A day off from the kennel, a step closer to home.

Shelters are loud and stressful, and stress can hide a dog's true personality. PupPal trips give dogs a breather, help staff learn how they act in the real world, and put them in front of potential adopters across the country.

  1. 01

    Pick a pal

Browse dogs by energy level, kid-friendliness, and shelter location. Every profile shows the dog's availability.

  2. 02

    Send a request

Fill out a short application with your trip date and plans. The shelter reviews and confirms it.

  3. 03

    Pickup & briefing

Bring your photo ID. Staff walk you through your pup's needs and hand over a leash, harness, 'Adopt Me' vest and a go-bag.

  4. 04

    Go have fun

Hike, beach, park, a nap on your couch — anything dog-friendly. Snap photos and note what your pup loves.

  5. 05

    Return & report

Drop off at the shelter’s agreed return time and share a quick report. Your notes go straight onto the dog's profile for adopters.

Day trips

Pickup and return times are set by each participating shelter. $45 per trip, plus processing fees and taxes.

Weekend sleepovers

Available only when both the shelter and the individual dog are approved for longer outings. The shelter sets pickup and return times.
